Teachers have a higher probability of being diagnosed with symptoms of speech and language disorders in comparison to other professionals. Teachers have to communicate daily, and it is a very challenging occupation. Teachers would be extremely sensitive to the development of speech and language problems.

Occupation is the critical factor that delivers income and quality results; it also has an impact on social, psychological, and physical wellbeing. However, the work environment is affecting the operational capability of professionals. Teachers are not an exception to occupational hazards. Hazards occur due to psychological factors as well as working hours. Teachers are impacted by occupational hazards such as vocal issues, respiratory, physical, and psychological issues.

A hazard can lead to a threat to life, health, property. Often, hazards are dormant, with only a lower possibility of resulting in harm. At the same time, once a hazard becomes “active,” it could result in an emergency. Teaching can be a gratifying profession; they have the opportunity of supporting a student to discover the underlying skill.

The notion that teachers suffer from a significantly higher rate of mental health issues is accepted among the teaching community. Teachers know that they are affected by stress and occupational burnout.

      Ergonomics

Ergonomics consists of changing the work environment to the employee’s requirements instead of forcing the employee to adjust to the work environment. Companies use the knowledge of ergonomics to decrease the risk of repetitive stress injuries along with other occupational health issues.

      Work-Related Stress

There are many reasons for stress in the workplace. Some of the stress affecting teachers are class size, student performance goals, long working hours, absence of student motivation, communicating with parents, inadequate professional recognition, and insufficient salary.

      Legal Considerations

Teachers must comply with laws created to confirm all students have equal access to learning and progress professionally. Teachers and school administrators must comply with various regulatory requirements. Teachers must not share any information about the student’s educational record with anyone. If teachers don’t comply with laws, there is a higher chance that they could be legally tried in a court or lose their professional credentials.

      Burnout

Even the most active teacher could feel worn down due to the harsh working environment. The pressure of achieving higher results, insufficient resources, and increasing administrative tasks can add to the burnout. Effective self-care is an excellent way to control burnout.

      Violence

Violence in the school environment can also be stressful. Verbal abuse can also result in teacher stress.

      False Accusations

False accusations can be very stressful. Teachers must maintain records of any problematic communications with students.
